This giclée print is from “Overlook,” an oil on canvas measuring 24 by 30 inches, executed in 1914. Ms. Steele (1881-1979) arrived at the Byrdcliffe art colony in 1903 as a talented student and soon became an exceptional designer and craftsperson. Later she studied painting under Birge Harrison and Andre L’Hote. Her paintings have been shown nationally in places such as the National Academy of Design and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. “Overlook” was most recently exhibited in 2003 at the Historical Society of Woodstock’s Byrdciffe 100 show.
