This giclée print is made from “Spring Willows,” an oil on canvas measuring 8 by 10 inches that was painted in the 1930s. It is by John F. Carlson (1874-1945), one of America’s leading landscape artists in the early Twentieth Century. Carlson won numerous awards and was a charismatic head of the Art Students League in Woodstock from 1911 to 1918. In 1928 he wrote the Elementary Principles of Landscape Painting, a bible on landscape painting.
