About the Poet
Judith Kerman has published seven collections of poetry, most recently Galvanic Response (March Street Press) and Plane Surfaces/Plano de Incidencia (CCLEH). She has also published two books of translations of Cuban and Dominican women poets (White Pine Press, BOA Editions). Kerman was a Fulbright Scholar in the Dominican Republic in 2002. Her video documentary about the Dominican Carnaval can be seen on YouTube on the Judith Kerman channel. She has visited Cuba seven times on scholarly and people-to-people permits.
Kerman founded Earth’s Daughters magazine in Buffalo, NY (1971 to present) and runs Mayapple Press in Woodstock, NY. In 2011, she retired from Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan, where she was Professor of English for fourteen years and Dean of Arts and Behavioral Sciences for six years before that.
