Segalman at 90

This is the catalog for a show that ran at the Woodstock School of Art from March 2 to May 4, 2024. Kate McGloughlin curated the show and wrote the following in the show’s catalog:

“Not every artist can paint a whisper with a loaded brush or make the sun shine bright on a crowded New York City street by wiping away a black screen of black ink with a cotton rag . . . Richard Segalman could.”

Richard Segalman (1934-2021) was born in Coney Island on March 13, 1934, and died on July 6, 2021, at 87. He lived in Woodstock, NY, and Greenwich Village. His artwork is in the permanent collections of over 40 museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, DC, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the Woodstock Artists Association & Museum. The exhibition catalog features 77 full-color images, including oil paintings, watercolors, monotypes, drawings, and pastels.

Softcover, 76 pages with a trim size of 9 x 10 inches. Published in 2024 by the Woodstock School of Art.
