Through the Berkshires to Boston: The Boston and Albany Railroad

Partnering with railroad historian and writer Robert Liller, renowned author John Ham has produced a new book about the Boston and Albany Railroad.

Robert Liller grew up along the New Haven Railroad in Connecticut. He has spent his life researching the railroads of New England. In this new publication, Liller and Ham focus on the Boston and Albany’s steam era “Glory Years.” They present images and photos taken of the Berkshires by noted photographers. These images are drawn from numerous historical societies as well as from New England town and city archives.

The book includes photos of

  • 120 Boston and Albany main-line stations
  • Branch lines
  • Major connecting railroads
  • Towns and cities served by the Boston and Albany line

This new publication contains 600 photos, maps, and timetables. It is hardcover with 336 pages and a trim size of 9 by 11.5 inches. Stony Clove and Catskill Mountain Press published it in 2023.
