Through the Stony Clove to the Mountaintop Towns
The Kaaterskill and Hunter branches of New York Central’s West Shore Railroad were located primarily in Hunter Township in Greene County, New York. They were a part of the grand old Ulster and Delaware Railroad that had fallen on hard times during the Great Depression and were unceremoniously taken over by the New York Central in February 1932. The Central had no intention of keeping them running, but the two branch lines operated considerably longer than anticipated. In this pictorial publication author John M. Ham shows the planned demise of the branches from 1936 until abandonment and subsequent removal of the rails in 1940. Softcover, 48 pages, trim size 8.5 by 11 inches. Published by Stony Clove and Catskill Mountain Press in 2018.
